Rain has always been part of Vancouver.
 
In Gastown, people don't rush to escape it. They pause beneath umbrellas, gather around the Steam Clock, wait for the familiar burst of steam, and take one more photo before continuing on their way. A dog looks up curiously while strangers share the same small moment beneath the grey sky.
Inspired by one of Vancouver's most beloved landmarks, this piece captures the city's quieter rhythm—the beauty found in ordinary pauses, soft rain, and fleeting encounters between people passing through the same street corner.
 
Each design begins as an original hand-drawn illustration, carefully composed from observation and never generated by AI. It is then translated into ceramic, featuring a subtle raised texture that allows the lines and details to be felt by hand.
